Connected Lakes at James M. Robb: Day Prep (Grand Junction)

Connected Lakes is a day-use section of James M. Robb Colorado River State Park in southwest Grand Junction, off Dike Road. It has ponds, trails, picnic spots, accessible fishing piers and a Colorado River boat ramp for boat trips when conditions allow.

Connected Lakes is one unit of a park CPW calls a "string of pearls." Corn Lake's hours, camping and ramps don't carry over here. This is trip prep for one unit. Check the fishing reports for conditions, and know that nobody can promise you a fish.

Open these first

CPW notes Connected Lakes has no visitor center of its own. When you need a live answer, use the Corn Lake main office contacts on the park page. Confirm the directions on the live section page: Broadway or Hwy 340, then Power Road, then Dike Road.

Before you go

  • Day use only. Overnight camping is at other park sections when it's open. Check Fruita, Island Acres or others on CPW. Don't assume you can stay overnight here.
  • Passes and fees. Read the live park fee tables. Don't take dollar amounts from blogs.
  • Pond or river. Say which water you mean before you leave: a pond shore or pier, or the Colorado River launch.
  • River trips. CPW describes the river from Connected Lakes toward Fruita as moving water, with possible Class II sections. Take the current and the cold water seriously. Wear a life jacket and decide your go or no-go ahead of time.
  • Kids, heat and pets. Keep kids close near banks and piers. Plan for heat and sun on valley days, and follow the posted leash rules.
