• The Mainstem Colorado River: Moving desert-canyon water with strong currents, Eddies, and agricultural diversion hazards downstream of Palisade. Check live USGS flows before wading or floating.

Essential Safety Prep for the River Corridor

• Cold Water & Life Jackets: CPW warns that the Colorado River runs cold for much of the year and carries swift currents and diversion dams. Always wear a USCG-approved life jacket on watercraft (NWS cold water safety).
