ANS / Clean-Drain-Dry for Colorado Boat & Kayak Anglers
Short answer: Every Colorado water move should end with Clean, Drain, Dry. Motorized craft and sailboats often need ANS stamps and mandatory inspections. Kayaks, SUPs, and fishing gear still need thorough cleaning. Follow CPW instructions; do not invent shortcuts.

Clean-Drain-Dry habits for anglers
- Clean: Remove plants, mud, and animals from hulls, trailers, anchors, boots, and nets away from storm drains.
- Drain: Empty bilges, livewells, ballast, kayak hatches, and bait buckets on site when required.
- Dry: Towel and air-dry gear completely before the next water—especially felt-free boots and soft goods.
Kayak and shore anglers are not exempt from care
Even when a full motorized inspection lane does not apply, hitchhiking plant fragments and mud still move on paddles, PFDs, and waders. Use CPW's clean-your-gear guidance for paddle craft.
