How to fish it this week
This is a shore, kayak, and paddleboard lake. CPW's Highline Lake State Park page, read this morning, says Mack Mesa is open to kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. The highlights page limits it to paddleboards, kayaks, and boats with hand or electric power. Gasoline and diesel engines are not allowed, even if they are shut off. Swimming is not permitted. There is an accessible fishing pier.
Highline Lake, in the same park, is closed October 1 through February 28 for migratory birds. That sentence sits under the Highline heading. This report does not close Mack Mesa.
What you are fishing for
CPW lists largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and rainbow trout for the two lakes. The highlights page says Mack Mesa is popular with shore anglers and for early-season and fall trout. That is the park's standing description, not a catch from today. We did not find a catch report from the water this week, so this note does not name a lure.
Largemouth bass in the park: keep two, each at least 15 inches. Mack Mesa is designated infested for zebra mussels. Clean, drain, and dry before the next water. Check with the Highline Lake State Park visitor center for park updates.
We do not print ice thickness.
