John Martin fishing report, Friday, October 23, 2026

What you are fishing for

CPW's John Martin page and highlights, read this morning, list walleye, saugeye, bass, wiper, crappie, perch, and catfish in the reservoir. We did not find a catch report from the water this week, so this note does not name a lure. This report does not print a bag or size limit.

Where you can launch

The West ramp is closed to trailered boats because of low water. Hand-launched canoes and kayaks can still launch there. Small boats can use the East ramp. Large boats should not. Boat ramps normally close November 1 through March 14 for waterfowl, so the usual open window runs through October 31, on top of the West ramp closure.

CPW has a toxic-algae caution at the West Boat Ramp cove: avoid direct skin contact and keep pets leashed so they do not drink it. See Colorado's toxic algae page.

Lake Hasty is a different fish

Lake Hasty, below the dam, is stocked with trout, bluegill, bass, saugeye, and wiper. It is hand-launched, and hand or electric power only. Half the Lake Hasty campground sites are without power and the sewer dump station is out. Affected sites are closed to reservations, and the repair timeline is unknown.

We do not print ice thickness.

Plan the trip
