Colorado River / James M. Robb, September 20, 2026

Updated 7:45 a.m. MDT on September 28, 2026: USGS 09095500 Cameo was provisional 1390 cfs and 17.1 C (62.8 F). The September 20 reading was about 1620 cfs and near 62 F, and the valley mornings are cool enough that fish are using the shade and current seams before the desert sun takes over. On the river, think trout and channel cat along soft edges, drop-offs below riffles, and the quieter inside bends; at the Robb units (Corn, Connected, Island Acres, Fruita), bass and panfish are the shore story on weed lines and rocky points.

Start at first light. On the river, drift a nymph or soft plastic through seams and along bank foam, or swing a small spinner through the heads of pools. On the park ponds, keep casts tight: a small soft plastic on a light jig along weed bottoms, or a willow / pulse-style spinner blade parallel to the bank on a steady retrieve. Midday slows, move to shade, docks, and deeper pond corners, then fish the same edges again into evening if the wind stays light. The September 20 forecast is over. Check the weather the morning you go. If thunder builds, pack it in early.

Use formal park access and posted river banks only, confirm unit hours on the James M. Robb hub and stay off private land. Cameo is corridor context, not a pond reading; treat each Robb unit as its own shore day.
